Senator Kalsoom Perveen said that the ICT management should provide details of the rules regarding housing societies and their 2017 audit reports with names of audit firms. He said that the ICT administration should take special care of the people who give their land to the government, adding such people should be provided compensation and alternate land.
The ICT official told the committee that details are being taken from victims while details of NAB and FIA cases pending against corporates would also be provided. Director ICT Nighat Mirza said that a plot for Sir Syed Memorial Society was secured in the tenure of Zia ul Haq and later development work to the tune of Rs 100 million was done in the Musharraf era. She admitted that massive graft and misappropriation was noticed in the above said memorial society.
She further said, "On identification of massive corruption in the society our salaries were stopped; however, the new administration is also supporting the corrupt mafia." She said after renting out Sir Syed Memorial Society plot, a university was established on that land. She said that the Supreme Court has also directed to evacuate the land.
The chief commissioner Islamabad said that according to law, the university can not be formed and the Supreme Court has ordered to get the land evacuated. He said that the CDA will get the land vacated by June 2018. He said that the society was registered under 1861 Act. It is written in the charter that a memorial hall would be established. He said that fraud was identified and reported in an audit report.
The committee chairperson said that answer in this regard will be sought from the ICT administration in the next meeting. Senator Kamil Ali Agha, Senator Haji Saifullah Khan Bangash and senior officials attended the meeting.
